A discarded cigarette resulted in five people being displaced from their home in Wheaton and $120,000 worth of damage after starting a house fire, acording to the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service.
At around 3:15 a.m., more than 50 firefighters responded to the 12900 block of Valleywood Drive near Kayson Street.
The flames from the cigarette damaged the second floor and the attic. All five individuals escaped safely, according to MCFRS.
