In honor of their 55th class reunion, the 1970 “It’s Academic” team from Walt Whitman High School is challenging the school’s current team to “A Battle of Whits” Oct. 30 at 3 p.m.
Barry Kemelhor of Rockville captained the 1970 team and is looking forward to this inter-generational challenge that will feature teachers, as well. He wrote to MCM that he can’t wait to compete in a game in which one side barely knows The Beatles and the other “can maybe name two Taylor Swift songs!”
Host Hillary Howard will moderate the reunion game, as she does for the current “It’s Academic” television show that is in its 65th year. During the pandemic, the quiz show went virtual. It then was filmed in MCM’s Rockville studio for a short time.
The reunion also features a football game, a tour and reception at Glenstone Museum in Potomac, plus a performance by comedian Robert Mac.
