Montgomery County Public Schools will have another two-hour delay on Wednesday. Schools came back in session with a delay Tuesday following the snow storm.
Schools and offices will open two hours late. Childcare programs can operate as usual, but MCPS advises that families check with their provider for updates.
Per the MCPS website, the school system cites a chance of snow early Wednesday morning as the reason for the delay:
“According to the National Weather Service, there is a chance of snow and a messy commute on Wednesday morning, with up to one inch possible on roadways. Combined with overnight refreezing, these conditions could make travel difficult. Out of an abundance of caution and to allow time for families to plan, MCPS is implementing a two-hour delay to support safer travel for students and staff.”
According to MCPS, there were “significant challenges” Tuesday. More than 50 bus routes were impacted by snow and ice, and school buses could not travel through some sections. Students along those routes either could not go to school or had to find another method of transportation. The roads have been reported to county government to be improved.
More information, including who to call for bus route concerns, is on the MCPS website.
