Art Students Create Their Past, Present and Future on Sidewalk Decals

170 Montgomery College art students designed pattern tiles about their past, present and future that are now on display in the school’s quad.

As part of the Artist-in-Residence program at the Rockville campus, professional artist Natan Diacon-Furtado helped the students virtually as they created 2D pattern-based designs that were then installed on the ground as sidewalk decals. They will remain there through May 8.

The students worked on Our Patterns: Montgomery College for three weeks and used many forms of art to create the finished product.

Two of Professor Mark Anderson’s 2Dclasses participated, and he praised both his students’ artwork and their introspection.
