Local Soccer Great Bruce Murray Joins Dave Johnson in DC United’s Radio Booth

Update on March 6: MyMCM has learned that Murray will now handle analyst duties for the entire season.

——————————————

DC United recently announced that Dave Johnson – who has called United’s games since their inception in 1996 – will lead iHeartRadio’s local broadcast for all of the team’s 2023 MLS regular season matches. Alongside Johnson for at least two of the broadcasts will be Bruce Murray, considered by many to be the greatest soccer player to come out of Montgomery County and Maryland.

Murray starred at Churchill High School, Clemson University and the U.S. National Team (1985-1993, 85 caps and 21 goals). He is inducted in the Clemson, National Soccer and Montgomery County Sports halls of fame.

Murray called his first game with Johnson on Saturday, a 3-2 DC United win vs Toronto. The team’s – and Murray’s – next game is Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at home vs Columbus. He told myMCM he hopes they extend his deal to do more games.

Games can be heard on 1190 iHeart Sports DC, 104.7 FM, 101.1 HD2 and the iHeartRadio App.

Every D.C. United and MLS match will be available to watch on MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app. In addition to English and Spanish commentary for every contest, MLS Season Pass will also provide the home team’s radio call as an audio option for the 2023 season, giving Black-and-Red supporters the ability to listen to the iHeartRadio local call directly in the Apple TV app.
