Career Fair Provides Job Opportunities in County’s Public Safety Department

The Montgomery County Office of Human Resources will hold a two-session Public Safety Career Fair on Saturday, Oct. 22, in Gaithersburg in an effort to fill over 100 open positions in the public safety department.

The career fair, for job seekers aged 18 and older, will be located at the County’s Public Safety Training Academy at 8751 Snouffer School Rd. in Gaithersburg, according to a county press release. The fair will be split into a morning session from 9 a.m. through 11 a.m. and an afternoon session from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Registration is not required to attend, but attendees are encouraged to register in advance for the session of their choice. To register, visit:  www.montgomerycountymd.gov/JOBFAIR.

Each session of the fair will include workshops on the following:

  •   Climbing the Ladder: Advancing Your Career
  •   Your Background Investigation: What to Expect
  •   Montgomery County Government Benefits: Your Total Rewards

The County is recruiting for several different types of public safety positions, including:

  •   Correctional dietary officer
  •   Correctional health nurse
  •   Correctional officer
  •   Crossing guard
  •   Deputy sheriff
  •   Firefighter
  •   Firefighter cadet
  •   Nurse practitioner (Corrections)
  •   Police cadet
  •   Police officer
  •   Public Safety emergency communications specialist

People who attend the fair will meet the County’s innovative public safety teams who will speak about their public safety careers. Representatives at the fair will include members of the police department, the fire and rescue service, the sheriff’s office and the Department of Correction and Rehabilitation.
