County Executive Marc Elrich hosts a virtual forum focusing on the county’s work to combat climate change. The forum is scheduled for Thursday, April 7  from 7 to 8 p.m.

Included in Elrich’s recommended $6.3 billion operating budget for next year are investments to combat climate change.  The purpose of Thursday’s forum is to explain the items included in the Executive’s budget to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions in multifamily and commercial buildings and in low- and moderate-income housing.  There is also funding in the proposed budget to improve the health of urban forests and to replace fossil-fueled County vehicles with zero-emission vehicles.

The budget, currently under review by the County Council, goes into effect on July 1.

Residents may participate in the forum on the Zoom platform. Registration is available here. Also, the forum will be live-streamed on the Environmental Protection Facebook page.
