A man was arrested and is facing charges after he shot and killed his mother inside a Clarksburg home early Monday morning, police say.
24-year-old David Mark Blackburn has been charged with the first-degree murder of his mother, 56-year-old Maryann Blackburn.
According to Montgomery County Police, officers responded to the home located on the 22800 block of Frederick Road around 2:40 a.m. A family member had awakened to the sound of gunshots and called 911 after discovering that Blackburn had shot his mother.
Authorities found Maryann Blackburn inside the residence suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was transported to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
David Blackburn was arrested at the residence and was taken to the Central Processing Unit.
