The Montgomery County Commission on Aging will hold a free public forum Wednesday, May 21, to address the challenges faced by unpaid family caregivers. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Activity Center at Bohrer Park, 506 South Frederick Ave.

Titled Revaluing Care: Building Policies, Programs and Connections to Support Caregiving in Our Community, the forum will highlight how local policies and community support can better meet caregivers’ needs. It coincides with Older Americans Month and emphasizes the economic and social burdens caregiving places—especially on women and women of color.

Unpaid caregivers often experience lost income, disrupted careers, and emotional and physical stress. The forum aims to generate policy recommendations that address these inequities and promote more effective support systems.

Panels will feature public officials, analysts, and community members, with breakout sessions focused on collaborative solutions.

The event is open to the public. Registration is encouraged via Eventbrite due to limited space. Attendees needing accommodations should contact Tremayne Jones at 240-777-1262 or email at least four business days before the event.
