
Montgomery County residents will have multiple opportunities to celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month this May through a series of cultural events scheduled across the region, May 10–24.
While the county’s kickoff celebration was held May 4 at Seneca Valley High School in Germantown, residents still have several chances to participate in upcoming events across the region.
On Saturday, May 10, the Quince Orchard Library in Gaithersburg will host a “Learn How to Make Candy Sushi” workshop from 2 to 3 p.m., combining creativity and culinary fun. Event details
Two major programs are set for Sunday, May 18:
- The Rockville Memorial Library will hold its AAPI Month Celebration from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., featuring cultural activities and performances.
More info - In Silver Spring, Halau Nohona Hawai’i will present Ho’ike 2025, a traditional Hawaiian showcase, from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at the Gwendolyn E. Coffield Community Center.

On Saturday, May 24, the Wheaton Library will screen Disney’s “Moana” from 10:30 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. Details
Later that day, the Robert E. Parilla Performing Arts Center at Montgomery College’s Rockville campus will host the Taiwan Night Concert 2025 from 2 to 4 p.m. The event features music and dance performances celebrating Taiwanese culture.
