This week, Costco announced that healthcare workers and first responders have priority access to enter their warehouses. With a membership card and official identification, healthcare workers and first responders will not need to wait in line to shop at Costco.
In recent weeks, Costco has implemented numerous procedures in response to the ongoing coronavirus health crisis. They include changes to the procedures for cleaning surfaces, limitations on the number of certain products each shopper can buy, special operating hours for elderly or impaired customers, and limiting the number of guests each member can bring into the warehouse with them.
Also, Costco warehouses now close at 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Costco warehouses will be closed Easter Sunday, April 12.
The Kirkland, Washington-based company also made temporary changes to their services:
- Food courts remain open for takeout only, no seating is available.
- Certain departments and services are limited or just not available, including Hearing Aid, Optical, floral, and jewelry.
Costco asks members to follow social distancing guidelines by allowing at least six feet of space between each person.
Yellow tape on the floor now marks off the distance shoppers should keep between carts in the checkout area.
