County, State Police Conduct Joint Operation in Silver Spring

Montgomery County Police joined with Maryland State Police in the Silver Spring area on an operation aimed at reducing crime.

From May 20 to May 22, the joint operation targeted the Route 29 corridor and the Beltway area, particularly around the Fairland and Briggs Chaney communities.

As a result, police recovered one stolen vehicle, made one handgun arrest and three impaired driving arrests. Officers made 102 traffic stops, issued 71 citations and 99 warnings. They also arrested two people who had warrants against them.

“Our partnership with the Maryland State Police exemplifies our dedication to ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents. By focusing on high-visibility patrols and strategic enforcement, we aim to deter criminal activity and address quality of life issues that impact our community,” said Police Chief Marcus Jones.
