Montgomery County’s Humane Society currently has six dogs up for adoption. Each pup has their own unique story and is in the market to find a forever home. Find descriptions of each dog below, and a testimonial from Brian Glover, Director of Animal Care and Adoptions.
Camo
10 month old, Australian Cattle Dog mix
Camo came from an unwanted litter down in Georgia
“He’s extremely smart, which is true to the breed. He’s got a big personality. He’s very energetic. Once he figures out you’re his person, he’ll come to you. He’ll do exactly what you expect him to do.”

Bedelia 
– 9 year old, mixed breed
Bedelia was adopted when she was a puppy. Eight years later she was returned due to familial complications – she’s been waiting to be re-adopted for almost a year.
“She’s a great personality. She’s good with most dogs, but she can be selective. We’ve taken her to events where there’ve been 100, 200 people. She’s good with all people. She loves to have her belly rubbed.”

Nova
3 year old, mixed breed
Nova was adopted at 10 weeks old. She was returned to the shelter when she was two. The family needed to move and could not bring her. She’s been at the shelter for almost a year.
“She’s very intelligent. If you focus on training with her, she will be right there with you. If you want to hang out in the house, she’ll hang out in the house with you. She’s just one that needs a lot of reassurance to make her happy and comfortable with whatever her new environment is.”

Shadow 
4 year old, English Pointer
Shadow’s original name was something along the lines of Sir Shadow of Winchester. He was brought in from a shelter in Georgia and is looking for his forever home.
“He does this thing where he smiles, but it looks like he’s growling when he’s showing all of his teeth. He’s not a fan of other dogs – it’s not like he goes out and wants to fight, he just doesn’t want other dogs in his personal space. He’s just one that doesn’t really want to play and engage with other dogs, he wants to play and engage with you.”

Tigra 
8 months olds, mixed breed
Tigra was pulled from a shelter in Georgia experiencing natural disasters.
“She can almost go with anything. She’s not shown any interest in wanting to pursue cats, but she is very curious – she may think of them as a toy. We put on dog related shows on YouTube, Blue’s Clues, or she’ll lay up right next to you and just literally watch TV for hours. She just wants to be petted.”

Maven
3 year old, mixed breed
Maven was pulled from a shelter in South Carolina almost a year and a half ago. She’s been adopted and returned three times now from families that were unfit to take care of her.
“She’s going to have to come visit her numerous times, build confidence with her that you’re not a threat, and then she’ll do anything you want for. Once she understands that you’re a part of the family, she’s great. She likes to play with other dogs as long as the other dogs are respectful to her. She is just a dog that needs to feel confident that she’s in a safe environment with people. She’ll be a great dog in someone’s home.”
