MCM attended Democratic primary election night watch parties for Andrew Friedson, Evan Glass and Will Jawando — the front runners in the race for Montgomery County Executive.
Jawando currently leads with the highest number of votes counted at the time of this publication, followed by Friedson and then Glass, according to unofficial results. However, Friedson has received a higher number of mail-in votes than Jawando, and there are still many ballots that need to be counted, including provisional.
As of Thursday afternoon, Jawando has 40.84% of the vote, Friedson has 33.51% and Glass has 21.57%. The three candidates currently serve as county councilmembers.
County executive candidates who also ran in the Democratic primary includedMithun Banerjee and Peter James, who both combined received about 4% of the vote.
In the Republican primary, Esther Wells (60.38% of vote) leads Shelly Skolnick (39.62% of vote).
