Elrich Asks County Health and Human Services to Find Ways to Support Potential Ukrainian Refugees

Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich has asked county Health and Human Services (DHHS) to look into ways to prepare for potential Ukrainian refugees who may come to the jurisdiction, he said during a weekly media briefing Wednesday.

Days after Russia invaded Ukraine, Elrich announced on Sunday that Russian-made liquors will not be available at any county-owned stores until further notice.

“We wanted locally to be able to take a stand to demonstrate our solidarity with the people of Ukraine,” he explained Wednesday.

“I’ve asked our team at HHS, also, to look into ways we can prepare and help for any Ukrainian refugees that might wind up seeking refuge here in our county,” Elrich said.
