A Silver Spring woman was killed in a vehicle crash on Interstate 70 in Frederick County, on Tuesday, August 8. Jeanne Ngassa, 74, was traveling west on I-70 in a Toyota Corolla when a Mercedes driving eastbound crossed into Ngassa’s lane and struck her car head-on.
The crash occurred just before noon, according to state police.
The Mercedes hit a westbound Dodge Ram truck as well, causing the truck to catch fire. The operator of the Dodge truck was transported to a local hospital via ambulance.
Ngassa was pronounced dead at the scene, according to state police.
The driver of the Mercedes was airlifted to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center. The investigation into the crash is ongoing, according to WMFD.
