Montgomery County Fire Chief Scott Goldstein said that 10 people were transported to local hospitals following an explosion and fire at the Friendly Garden Apartments at 2423 Lyttonsville Road in Silver Spring Thursday morning.
Several people were rescued from the building before it became completely consumed by the fire accord to Goldstein. The cause of the explosion is under investigation.

County Executive Marc Elrich was on site along with councilmembers including Tom Hucker and Evan Glass.
