It’s Monday, Oct. 8, and here are five things Montgomery County residents need to know:

CANCELED 1. Meet the Media: Council President Hans Riemer has his regular meeting with he reporters starting at 11:30 a.m. Up for discussion will be legislation to streamline the approval of accessory apartments, which is an effort to increase the amount of affordable housing in the county.

2. Municipal Monday: Gaithersburg Mayor and Council meets at 7:30 p.m. in City Hall. The agenda includes an update in the Adequate Public Facilities Ordinance schools test. Click here for details.

3. Economic Development: Councilmember Craig Rice is holding a community economic development meeting starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Universities at Shady Grove. For more information, click here.

4. MCPS Open House: Montgomery County Public Schools have an open house today.
