New York Times best-selling author John Scalzi will present his latest sci-fi novel, When the Moon Hits Your Eye, at the Gaithersburg Book Festival on Saturday, May 17. Scalzi joins more than 130 other featured authors at the event.
In When the Moon Hits Your Eye, the moon has mysteriously transformed into cheese—literally. The bizarre change forces humanity to grapple with questions both practical and profound. Some see a business opportunity. Others confront their shaken faith in science, religion, or reality itself. As the world adjusts, billions look skyward, trying to make sense of the impossible.
Scalzi is among the most widely read science fiction writers of his generation. His novels include The Last Colony, Fuzzy Nation, Redshirts (winner of the 2013 Hugo Award), The Kaiju Preservation Society, and Starter Villain. He lives in Ohio with his wife and daughter.
Gaithersburg Mayor and Book Festival founder Jud Ashman offers a brief review of When the Moon Hits Your Eye.
Scalzi will speak about When the Moon Hits Your Eye at 11:15 a.m. in the F. Scott Fitzgerald Pavilion, followed by a book signing at 12:15 p.m.
The Gaithersburg Book Festival runs Saturday, May 17, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Bohrer Park, 506 S. Frederick Avenue. Admission and parking are free.
