Gaithersburg will host a youth summit for local middle and high school students on Friday, March 1 from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Activity Center at Bohrer Park. The summit focuses on anti-hate and features keynote speakers from the Montgomery County Anti-Hate Violence Committee.

The program includes student breakout groups that will create public service announcements to raise awareness about hate violence. The PSAs will be judged, with prizes for the top three winners. First prize winners will receive tickets to a DC United game this spring. Second and third prize winners will receive free admission tickets to the Gaithersburg Water Park and Miniature Golf Course. The top three entries will be shared on the City’s social media platforms and County outlets.

The event also includes a resource fair featuring support program information and nonprofit groups. Students attending the event will receive lunch from Subway, a Youth Voice Summit t-shirt, and Student Service Learning (SSL) hours for their participation.

Friday is a half day for Montgomery County Public School (MCPS) students.

The Activity Center at Bohrer Park is located at 506 South Frederick Avenue in Gaithersburg.
