Gaithersburg to Elect 3 Councilmembers in November Election

Voters in the City of Gaithersburg will elect three councilmembers Tuesday, Nov. 7.

According to the city, the Gaithersburg Board of Supervisors of Elections certified six candidates: Neil Harris, Yamil Hernández, Daniel Lukomsky, Shanika Whitehurst, Omodamola Williams and Robert Wu.

Harris and Wu are incumbents who are up for re-election.

One open seat was vacated by Del. Ryan Spiegel, a former Gaithersburg councilmember who was chosen to fill a delegate seat vacated by another delegate.

Councilmembers serve a four-year term.

The City of Gaithersburg posted candidate statements and biographical information on its website.

Not everyone with a Gaithersburg address is considered a city resident, according to voting information. Residents can use a map to see if they fall within the city limits.

Residents can vote in-person at the Activity Center at Bohrer Park from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Nov. 7, early vote at the same location on Sunday, Oct. 29 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., or complete a mail-in ballot.

City residents registered to vote in the county are automatically registered for the Gaithersburg election. Same-day voter registration is available.

The City of Rockville will also have an election Nov. 7 for mayor and Rockville City Council. MCM livestreamed a recent candidate forum hosted by the King Farm Citizens Assembly on Wednesday.
