How to Celebrate Maryland Day

Ok, so you may be wondering what exactly is Maryland Day and how did it sneak up on me again this year?

Maryland Day commemorates the arrival of English settlers to our shores on March 25, 1634. That’s when Maryland became the third of the original 13 colonies.

To celebrate this 388th anniversary, you might consider the following activities: sporting the colors of our flag -yellow, black and red, dining on uniquely Maryland cuisine like crabcakes, or humming the state song “Maryland, My Maryland”. And there’s always showing your loyalty to the Free State by wearing the state flower, the black-eyed Susan, in your lapel.

For those who prefer more organized activities, Maryland Day has plenty to offer with events all weekend long. You can check them out here.

In the meantime, Happy Maryland Day!
