After years of negotiations with the owner of the Virginia landing Rockland Farms, owners Chuck and Stacey Kuhn “made an agreement with Montgomery County to donate the ferry’s operation… to the government….,” that’s according to the Monocacy Monocle.
The news was published in the monthly paper and comes two days after the failure of the county’s effort to resolve the longstanding dispute with an offer of $3 million by July 1.
At this writing the deal has yet to be confirmed by the county. MCM will continue to attempt to verify this information.
Editor Rande Davis notes if the transaction is confirmed the county Revenue Authority would manage the ferry and work to negotiate an agreement. It is speculated this change in ownership could lead to Loudoun County’s involvement in the process.
The Monocle quotes the value of the donation at $1.3 million.
