Hundreds of County Runners Compete in Return of Marine Corps Marathon

It’s called the People’s Race. The Marine Corps Marathon took place Sunday, Oct. 30 with over 15,000 participants – including several hundred from Montgomery County – running the 26.2 mile course beginning and ending in Arlington, Va.

This was the first running of the race since 2019 due to the pandemic.

The winners:

Male: U.S. Marine Corps Captain Kyle King, 33, Yucca Valley, Ca. 2:19:19.

Female: Chelsea Baker, 32, Stroud, UK, 2:42:38.

Male/Wheelchair: Kevin Hillery, 32, Alexandria, Va., 1:19:25

Female/Wheelchair: Dianne Leigh Sumner, 63, Newton Grove, NC, 2:06:33
