Jawando Announces Endorsements from Prince George’s County Officials  

Montgomery County Councilmember and U.S. Senate candidate Will Jawando announced endorsements from Prince George’s (PG) County electeds in his run for Senate.

The four PG County officials now endorsing Jawando for Senate are Laurel City Councilmembers Martin Mitchell and Carl Dewalt, Colmar Manor Mayor Monica Casañas and Mount Rainier Mayor Celina Benitez. Jawando and supporters gathered in Laurel for a press conference Wednesday.

Jawando told MCM he is the “progressive, bold candidate” in the race. He noted a “big win” last week as permanent rent stabilization was signed into law in Montgomery County after it was passed 7-4 by the county council. Jawando voted in favor of the bill.

On May 1, U.S. Sen. Ben Cardin announced he will not run for reelection in 2024. Also running for Cardin’s seat are PG County Executive Angela Alsobrooks, U.S. Rep. David Trone and Jerome Segal.
