Councilmember Will Jawando‘s county executive campaign held an event in Olney on Thursday evening, despite his recent heart attack.
Jawando and his family were not present. His wife, Michele Jawando, was scheduled to appear, but a campaign aide told MCM she was “too emotionally overwhelmed” to attend.
The average recovery time from a heart attack could be anywhere from two weeks to three months, according to Cleveland Clinic. Jawando’s doctors said they expect him to make a full recovery, according to an Instagram post shared by the councilmember. But his public appearances could be limited before Election Day on Nov. 3.
Other well-known political figures who were present at the event in support of Jawando’s campaign included Maryland Comptroller Brooke Lierman, Del. Greg Wimms, Councilmember Shebra Evans, Councilmember Kristin Mink, Board of Education candidate Omar Lazo and Montgomery County Department of Recreation Director Gabe Albornoz.
The event took place at The Lone Oak Brewery, where campaign staffers shared a video showing Jawando recovering at home.
