Election Day is Tuesday, and both candidates for Montgomery County Executive are making their final campaign push.
On the last day of early voting MCM caught up with Democratic nominee Will Jawando in Silver Spring and Republican nominee Esther Wells in Gaithersburg to hear their messages to voters who have yet to cast their ballots.

“I’m going to fight really hard for every Montgomery County resident to make sure you have a high quality school, a safe neighborhood, affordable housing,” Jawando told MCM outside of the Civic Building in downtown Silver Spring. “That’s what I’ve worked hard on at the council and that’s what I’m going to do as county executive.”
Jawando continued. “I’m a passionate advocate. I fight for the working class. I fight for regular people. That’s what I’ve done my whole life. I’m born and raised here, grew up very low-income, became a lawyer so I can fight for the rights of people. And whether that’s education, housing, health care, civil rights, public safety, I’m going to push and work really hard on your behalf and I’d be honored to have your vote,” he said.
Meanwhile, Wells highlighted money and taxes in her final campaign push.
“Montgomery County is too important to lose,” Wells told MCM at Bohrer Park in Gaithersburg. “And so, as we are in a financial crisis, I’m a CPA with a master’s in taxation. In 15 years, I have made a living on accountability. And that is what I want to do for you and for our community. I want to restore good governance here in Montgomery County. I want to lower our taxes. I would like to have improved outcomes for our children like yours and mine. I have a special needs child in MCPS.”
Wells continued: “We want to vote people over party. When it’s just you and your ballot. You want to vote what is in your family’s best interest. Ignore the noise,” she said.
Polls are scheduled to open on Election Day from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
