A 16-year-old was charged with gun possession following an assault that led to a double stabbing on Wayne Avenue Monday at 6 p.m.
Montgomery County Police officers responded to Wayne and Ramsey avenues in downtown Silver Spring following a report of an assault that involved more than 20 juveniles.
An investigation revealed the 16-year-old and an 18-year-old were approached by a group of males who robbed them. One of the teens brandished a knife and stabbed two of the robbers. A third thief, a 16-year-old from Washington, D.C., was with the two robbers. He displayed a gun during the assault, according to police.
Officers located two robbers suffering from stab wounds and a third victim who sustained injuries during the fight. The two teens who were stabbed were transported to an area hospital. One remains in serious condition, the second sustained minor injuries. The third victim elected not to receive medical treatment.
Officers quickly located and arrested the 16-year-old who displayed the gun during the assault. He was transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit. He has been charged with robbery and firearm related charges.
