The Healthy Kids Day® is the YMCA’s national initiative to improve the health and well-being of children and families. This year the event takes place on Saturday, April 29 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. The 8 Metropolitan Washington Ys all host open houses and free activities. Montgomery County has 2 local Ys, one in Silver Spring and the other in Bethesda.
Silver Spring
The Y of Silver Spring event features family zumba, kids yoga classes and sack races. There will also be snacks and the opportunity to make and enjoy a smoothie. Kids and their families may try various sports and try water polo and boat races in the pool.
Information about summer camp offerings, childcare, sports teams, and other summer programs at the Y will be available.
The open house and activities are free with a reservation. The YMCA of Silver Spring is located at 9800 Hastings Drive.
Bethesda-Chevy Chase
The YMCA of Bethesda-Chevy Chase day features a family yoga class at 10:30 a.m. There will also be rainbow sensory bin activities, a take-home gardening pot, a gymnastics demonstration, music, and giveaways. Fresh fruit will be available for snacking.
Parents can also learn about summer camp offerings, childcare, sports teams, and summer programs.
The open house and activities are free with a reservation. The YMCA Bethesda-Chevy Chase is located at 9401 Old Georgetown Road in Bethesda.
