As part of the celebration of Juneteenth, the County wants to honor African American residents who have made significant contributions to their community.

County Executive Marc Elrich describes the ideal candidate as, “…our neighbors, teachers, organizers and elders who helped shape Montgomery County into the place it is today. Their stories are part of our collective history.”

This year’s celebration marks the 28th annual event. The awards ceremony, hosted by County Executive Elrich, will take place at the Black Rock Center for the Arts in Germantown on Friday, June 20 at 7 p.m.

To nominate someone for the award, submit a narrative of two pages or less stating why the individual deserves recognition, including a list of community contributions.

Nominations are due Saturday, June 1. Submissions can be sent by email or regular mail.
