Man Drowned While Working on Potomac Pool; Family Asking For Donations

The family of a man who died while remodeling a pool in Potomac, is asking for the community’s help to bring his body home.

As first reported by MoCo360, David Sosa drowned on July 17. According to Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Services. (MCFRS), they responded to a report of a drowning at a home around 8 p.m. When officials arrived, Sosa was already removed from the water and suffering cardiac arrest. MCFRS administered CPR but Sosa did not survive.

According to a GoFundMe page posted by his sister Catalina Sosa, money is being raised to send his body to their home country El Salvador. As of Thursday, the family raised $5,520 with the goal of $8,000.

“We appreciate any assistance anyone can give to help us send him to my dad and his mom in El Salvador as he would have wanted to be buried in his home country,” wrote his sister. “What we can raise will be used for the funeral and any medical expenses that we would need to pay. I will add the autopsy updates once we receive them.”

Sosa also shared on TheGoFundMe page that her brother did not have a wife or kids, but was a friend to many, an uncle, and a son.
