
Luis Davila-Marerro, 42, was sentenced Wednesday to 35 years in prison for kidnapping, carjacking and robbery.A jury had convicted Davila-Marerro in February.
His sentence will run consecutive to a 10-year prison sentence he received in March on charges of burglary and violation of probation.
Taxi Reservation
According to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office, on July 6, 2024 at 9 p.m., a woman who worked for a taxi service for Spanish speaking individuals received a call from Davila-Marerro. She had driven him several times in the past. They had exchanged contact information, so Davila-Marerro contacted her directly rather than going through the business, Transporte Express Inc.
She arranged to pick him up in the 18000 block of Contour Road in Montgomery Village. At the time, the driver had her 12-year-old son with her in the car.
The Crime

They drove for several hours and into Howard County and back to Montgomery Village “while the defendant threatened the victim and her son, demanding any cash they had and their cell phones. The victim only had a few dollars in cash, but the defendant accessed a bank app on her cell phone and transferred $480 from her account to himself,” according to the State’s Attorney’s office.
She reported seeing a knife.
She dropped him off at a bus stop near a McDonald’s
The victim and her son feared for their lives, according to State’s Attorney’s office. She exited the vehicle at approximately 1:00 a.m. in Montgomery Village.

Following the sentencing, State’s Attorney John McCarthy said, “This predator has shown an escalation of violence, repeatedly targeting women in our community.”
