Maryland State Police Increase Patrols for Holiday Weekend

Maryland State Police will enhance enforcement against impaired, aggressive, and distracted driving from Friday to Monday.

Troopers from all 23 barracks will conduct saturation patrols statewide. The Maryland Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Administration’s Highway Safety Office funds this increased enforcement.

The State Police Impaired Driving Reduction Effort (SPIDRE) team will target impaired drivers. This unit aims to reduce alcohol-related injuries and fatalities and is funded by an MDOT MVA grant.

State Police safety initiatives focus on preventing dangerous driving and saving lives. These initiatives include partnerships with law enforcement and state agencies for enforcement and community outreach.

Troopers from the College Park, Forestville, Golden Ring, Rockville, Waterloo, and Westminster barracks will conduct high-visibility enforcement. They will patrol interstates 495, 95, and 695.
