Maryland to Hold Community Meetings on Purple Line

The Maryland Department of Transportation (MCDOT) will host a number of in-person community meetings in May and June about construction for the Purple Line. The purpose of the meetings is to introduce the project’s new contractor, Maryland Transit Solutions (MTS), and provide the community an opportunity to ask questions and hear updates on construction activities and the maintenance of traffic during construction including any upcoming detours.

The Purple Line is a light rail line that will extend from Bethesda in Montgomery County to New Carrollton in Prince George’s County. It will connect the Metrorail Red, Green and Orange Lines at Bethesda, Silver Spring, College Park, and New Carrollton. The line will also connect to MARC, Amtrak, and local bus services. The line is currently under construction with a planned completion date of 2026.

Specific questions should be sent to the outreach team 10 days in advance of the meeting date. The Purple Line Outreach Team may be reached at 443-451-3706 or via email at outreach@purplelinemd.com.
