Maryland’s Electors to Cast Presidential Vote Dec. 14

Maryland’s electors will cast their vote for president and vice president Monday, Dec. 14 at noon, as part of the Electoral College process.

While they will vote in the State House, this year’s event will be closed to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The event will be livestreamed on the Maryland Board of Elections website.

Each state allocates electors based on the sum of the number of Senators and the U.S. Representatives. Maryland has a total of 10 electoral voters, who have pledged to cast their votes for the candidates who received the most votes in the state. President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris won in Maryland.

The electoral votes are then sent to the President of the Senate—Vice President Mike Pence—who will read each state’s electoral votes before Congress.
