Maryland’s Great Run Comes to an End

Maryland’s stellar season came to end Monday night in a 86-75 loss to top-seed South Carolina in Greenville, SC. The Gamecocks were led by Player of the Year candidate Aliyah Boston with 22 points and 10 rebounds. South Carolina advances to the Final Four in Dallas.

Not much was expected from this Terps team after the loss of many players to the transfer portal and graduation last year but they surprised many prognosticators earning a 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament and finishing the season with a 28-7 record.

The Terps led 21-15 after one quarter but were dominated and outscored 23-9 in the decisive second quarter by the bigger, deeper Gamecocks.

Diamond Miller scored 24 points in her final game in a Maryland uniform. Walt Whitman alum Abby Meyers, also playing her final collegiate game, scored 14 points before fouling out.
