Metro to Close Some Red Line Stations Starting Dec. 18

Due to construction work along the Red Line, some Metro stations in D.C. will be closed for two weeks beginning Dec. 18.

The work involves safety repairs to the tunnel and track infrastructure, upgrade of signal and communication systems and installation of new platform edge lights.

Between Dec. 18 and 21 and again between Dec. 25 and 30, shuttles will replace trains between Dupont Circle and Gallery Place.

The trains will operate in two segments. Trains will run every eight to 10 minutes between Shady Grove and Dupont Circle and between Gallery Place and Glenmont every 10 minutes.

Farragut North station and Metro Center’s upper level will be closed those days.

From Dec. 22 to 24, shuttles will run between Dupont Circle and Union Station. Trains will operate between Shady Grove and Dupont Circle every eight minutes and between Union Station and Glenmont every eight to 10 minutes.

Farragut North, Judiciary Square, Metro Center’s upper level and Gallery Place’s upper level will be closed.
