  • Germantown Campus on Oct. 26 in the BE Building

Registration is open for the Rockville, Takoma Park/Silver Spring, and Germantown Campus Fair.

Missouri high school teacher Rodney Wilson founded LGBTQIA+ month in October because he wanted there to be more education on the history of the community in a month when public school was in session. Wilson wrote an article about gay history in 1994. After the Missouri Historical Society published Wilson’s article, the University of Missouri-St. Louis held a Gay History Month function.

Equality Forum, a non-profit educational organization, created LGBTHistoryMonth.com in 2006. Throughout the month of October, different LGBT icons are recognized each day. Celebrities are nominated, totaling to 31 selections per year.
