Montgomery Parks host Archeology Day at Needwood Mansion

Montgomery Parks invites residents to a family-friendly archeology event next month at one of the county’s historic sites.

The event will take place Saturday, May 2, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Needwood Mansion. The event will feature free, hands-on activities, games and live music for attendees of all ages.

Organizers say visitors will  have the opportunity to interact with costumed interpreters and learn about local history and archeology through educational programming.

Montgomery Parks, part of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, manages more than 400 parks and provides recreational programs, historical interpretation and environmental education throughout the county.

Events like Archeology Day are part of the department’s broader effort to promote cultural heritage and provide accessible, educational experiences for residents. The agency’s mission includes preserving natural and historic resources while offering recreational and learning opportunities to the public.

The event is free and open to the public.
