Moore Ruled Not Competent to Stand Trial

Torrey Moore, who is charged with killing a convenience store clerk and a woman and her unborn child, has been ruled not competent to stand trial.

Moore, 31, of Silver Spring, was charged with first degree murder and use of a firearm in commission of a violent crime for the death of Ayalew Wondimu, who was an employee at Dash In on New Hampshire Road in Silver Spring.

He also has been charged with the death of Denise Middleton, 26, who was about 38-weeks pregnant at the time of her death. An autopsy indicated that she had been shot multiple times, sometime in October.

Her decomposing body was found in Moore’s apartment in Silver Spring when police came to arrest him for Wondimu’s murder.

Moore is considered a danger to himself and the community and not capable of assisting in his defense, explained State’s Attorney for Montgomery County John McCarthy.

Moore, who is being held without bond, is represented by a Montgomery County public defender.

McCarthy said he believes Moore will be transferred to Clifton T. Perkins Hospital Center, which is the same place that Catherine Hoggle, the mother charged with killing her two young children, is being held.
