Detectives from the Montgomery County Police are investigating a fatal collision Saturday on West Diamond Avenue in Gaithersburg that occurred at 9:43 p.m.
Roger Gustavo Pineda Cardona, 25, of Gaithersburg, was pronounced dead at an area hospital.
County and Gaithersburg police officers as well as County Fire Rescue personnel responded to West Diamond Avenue at the ramp to southbound I-270. At the location they found a collision between a black 2022 Toyota Camry and a green 2008 Kawasaki EX250 motorcycle.
According to police, the driver of the Toyota was making a left turn from westbound West Diamond Avenue onto southbound I-270. The motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on West Diamond Avenue approaching the 1-270 overpass when he collided with the rear of the Toyota.
The driver of the Toyota and two passengers remained on the scene and were not injured, according to police.
When first responders arrived at the scene, they found Pineda Cardona, who was seriously injured. He was transported to the hospital.
