Oct. 27-29 Weekend Roundup: 9 Things To Do in Montgomery County

Welcome to MCM’s Weekend Roundup of events in Montgomery County. Here are nine things to do this weekend, October 27-29.

Friday, October 27

Not So Spooky Skate: Again this year, the Cabin John Ice Rink holds a Halloween event for children ages 3 to 12. Activities include ice skating, trick or treating, a costume contest, and Halloween crafts.  Skaters under the age of six should have a parent participate in the skating and craft. The event hosted by Montgomery Parks runs from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. $12 fee. For more information and registration, click here.

Pumpkin Patch and Jack-O-Lantern Hikes: At the Locust Grove Nature Center, families are invited for a 1/2 hour evening hike, starting at 5 p.m. Montgomery Parks hosts eight hikes, the first starts at 5 p.m., the last starts at 8:30 p.m. $6 fee. Young Frankenstein: Rockville Musical Theatre’s Young Frankenstein show opens tonight at 8 p.m. at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre in Rockville. Recommended for ages 12 and older due to adult themes. Saturday, October 28

Montgomery College Harvest Fest: Montgomery College hosts Harvest Fest, a free event for residents of all ages, Saturday, October 28 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., in the Mannakee Building at the Rockville Campus. There will be fun for all ages such as an art show, dancing, a coding demonstration, a DJ, ice cream, and a raffle. Kids can also enjoy face painting, pumpkin decoration, games, and say hi to or pose for a photo with Monty, Montgomery College’s raptor mascot. For more information, click here.

Pumpkin Rock N’ Roll: Families are invited to enjoy attractions including live musical performances, pumpkin derby race, food trucks, and a hay maze from noon to 4 p.m. at the Warner Circle Park  in Kensington. Free. For more information and to RSVP, click here.

Silver Spring Zombie Walk: All Zombie fans are invited to don your favorite undead costume and head to downtown Silver Spring for a parade that starts at the Quarry House Tavern at 7 p.m. Revelers proceed to Silver Spring’s Ellsworth Plaza for a dance party at 9 p.m. Free. ​Sunday, October 29

Pike Kids Trick-or-Treating: Families are invited to come dressed up for Halloween fun to enjoy a morning of lively entertainment, exciting treats, and entertainment at the Pike & Rose neighborhood in North Bethesda. The event takes place from 10 a.m. to noon.  $5 fee, donated to Manna Food Center. For more information and to purchase a ticket, click here.

HalloWheaton: The Marian Fryer Town Plaza in Wheaton is the place to be for an afternoon of Halloween fun. There will be s’mores roasting, mask and pumpkin painting, a beer garden, craft projects, and a costume contest. Activities start at noon and continue until 4 p.m. Free. Holiday Crafts & Treats Fair: Ars and crafts, jewelry, holiday decor, and more will be on display at Veterans Plaza in downtown Silver Spring Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. From 2 to 2:30 p.m. a Kids Costume Parade takes place followed by a Pets Halloween Parade from 3:30 to 4  p.m. Free admission.
