Olney man charged with pizza robbery, assault at local eatery

A 20-year-old Olney man was charged with robbing a pizza parlor and second-degree assault for striking an employee.

It happened at the Papa John’s in the 13000 block of Georgia Avenue in Washington, D.C..

The suspect, Dean Steve Bodjona-Ali, entered the restaurant on Oct. 8, 2025, around 10:30 p.m, according to Montgomery County police. He provided a false name in an attempt to pick up an order placed by a different customer. When an employee refused to comply, Bodjona-Ali walked behind the counter and took a pizza.

When the employee attempted to intervene in the robbery, the suspect struck the employee in the chest and ran out of the store.

An investigation led police to Bodjona-Ali, who was charged with theft under $100, in addition to the robbery charges.

His preliminary hearing is set for Feb. 13.
