Brew Belly in Olney started a unique but distinctly all-American 4th of July tradition a few years ago – a cheesesteak eating contest. While not your average Independence Day activity it proved a popular pastime. On Tuesday, crowds jammed into the modestly sized bar and grill to cheer on their heroes. Scott Wykoff acts as emcee of the event.
Twenty-five contestants filled out the paperwork and paid the $20 entry free. Locally run nonprofit Hero Dogs benefited from the event. And all the proceeds were matched by Brew Belly. Brew Belly is located at 18065 Georgia Avenue in Olney.
