Olney Restaurant Stages Cheesesteak Eating Contest for the 4th

While most people will celebrate Independence Day with barbeques, parades, and firework shows, one lucky person has the chance to celebrate by winning a year’s supply of cheesesteaks.

Brew Belly, a local brewery and restaurant located at 18065 Georgia Ave in Olney, announced it would host its 3rd annual Cheesesteak Eating Contest on July 4 at noon.

The contest is open to the first 25 people to sign up with a $20 entry fee. The first person to finish a two-pound footlong “Wiz Wit” cheesesteak will win a free cheesesteak from Brew Belly per week for an entire year.

Brew Belly says the entry money will be directly donated to Hero Dogs, a local non-profit organization, to help with their mission of pairing veterans with highly-trained service dogs, free of charge.

Per Brew Belly, here are six of the rules and etiquette for the contest:

  1. If you sign up, don’t be a no-show. Arrive 30-minutes early for check-in.
  2. Water bottles will be available. However, no dunking is allowed.
  3. If you are feeling sick, please remove yourself from the area. Trash cans will be located within reach, just in case.
  4. Win and lose graciously.
  5. Must sign a waiver to compete.
  6. Must be 18+ to compete.

Those up to the challenge are encouraged to register for the contest by calling Brew Belly at 240-389-1927.
