Part of Ghost Gun Confiscated From Blair Student

The security staff at Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring confiscated part of a ghost gun from a student Tuesday.

According to a letter from Principal Renay Johnson to high school families, the student’s parents were contacted, and Mongomery County Police took the student into custody.

She called the incident “serious,” and noted that the student had only one part of a ghost gun and not a complete operating firearm.

“I know that having part of a ghost gun or any weapon on school property can be unsettling. We have taken immediate steps to address the situation and provide necessary support for our students,” Johnson wrote in her letter.

She urged families to “speak with your child about the seriousness of having any weapons or parts of weapons on school property.”

Also Tuesday, John F. Kennedy High School students were in lockdown and shelter in place following a bomb threat that police determined was not valid.
