Pedestrian Fatally Struck on Columbia Pike

A Maryland man was killed by a driver in an SUV while walking across Columbia Pike in the Fairland-White Oak area Friday evening, according to the Montgomery County Police Department.

Police and fire rescue teams arrived at the intersection of Columbia Pike and Tech Road around 10:30 p.m. on the evening of the crash, where they found both the driver and pedestrian at the scene. The victim has been identified as 52-year-old Yaovi Magloire Guedoh of Frederick, Md. Police issued a pedestrian safety advisory shortly after the fatal collision.

The unidentified driver was headed north on Columbia Pike in a 2020 GMC Terrain when Guedoh was fatally struck while crossing the road, according to police. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver remained on site.

The crash remains under investigation. Detectives ask any witnesses to call 240-773-6620.
