A 62-year-old woman died in a hit-and-run accident in Aspen Hill on Wednesday night, according to the Montgomery County Police Department.
At around 7:21 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to Arctic Avenue and Bel Pre Road for a report of a pedestrian struck, according to police.
Police found the woman with serious injuries. She was taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The driver was operating a Jeep Wrangler and did not stay at the scene, according to police. A witness to the crash gave police a description of the vehicle and license plate number. Police are investigating.
The name of the pedestrian will be made public after notifying next of kin, according to police.
