A suspect has been identified and arrested in connection with multiple home burglaries in Potomac over the summer, according to Montgomery County police.
Police arrested Anderson Javier Santacruz Gallegos, 29, Tuesday in relation to the burglaries.
When Gallegos targeted a house, police said he would allegedly knock on the door to see if anyone was present. If not, he would force entry toward the back of the house. The burglaries started in June of 2026. Detectives began investigating the crimes and zeroing in on a suspect shortly after. Items taken from the burglarized homes were primarily jewelry, watches and coins, according to detectives.

On Sept. 23 2026, MCPD reported seeing Gallegos breaking into a home on Enid Drive in Potomac. After he returned to his vehicle, detectives arrested him and transported him to Montgomery County Central Processing Unit. He’s currently being held without bond.
A search warrant was issued on Gallegos’ house where stolen items were recovered. Police have returned recovered items to their owners.
