Police ID Victim in Wheaton Stabbing, $10K Reward Offered

An argument that began on a Metrobus ended in a fatal stabbing in Wheaton on early Wednesday afternoon.

According to a press release by detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police-Major Crimes Division, the stabbing occurred after two men got off the bus in front of the county parking garage on Amherst Avenue in Wheaton.

When officers arrived at the location, they found 28-year-old Amontae Robert Cunningham of Rockville suffering from what appeared to be stab wound. He was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The suspect remains at large. Detectives ask bus passengers who may have witnessed the altercation to contact Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070.
